Like a pendulum, I started rocking left and right while seated on my floor this morning.

My swung open cupboard door was swinging slightly.

My electric fan was switched off. I double checked that.

I straightened my back. Stomach in, chest out and waited quietly.

My windows were shut tight.

Then I stood up and felt myself swaying. My radio was switched off so I am sure I wasn't silly dancing to any songs.

The water in my transparent cheery orange bottle was swaying.

Tremors. I felt them again. And again.

Another strong Earthquake in Sumatra, which has already taken away 5 lives, injured dozens and destroyed property. =( Let's all pray and cling onto hope for the people that this catastrophe will soon pass.

After 2.5 years slogging, waiting and hoping.... .. . .. . . .

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I FINALLY ATTAINED ENLIGHTENMENT! Hummmmm....

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
And graduated with my Bachelor's degree... Hur hur.... I am now an ELIGIBLE BACHELOR!!!! -_-

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Met up with some 'long-lost' friends... Pretty Chee Lin, Me and Kelvin Kor Kor.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The stage was set at the Grand Hyatt Millenia Hotel. The Professors and scholarly graduands were present on stage, and the occasional addresses was rolled out during the hour.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I was at seat number 0041, so I was up on stage pretty quickly. I swear I can see myself sneaking a shy smile in this picture. I had to 'dock' my mortarboard (somewhat like a salute) as a sign of respect and acknowledgement of the receipt of the certificate before shaking the presenter's hand. How interesting! My debut and exit took me exactly 12 seconds. Darn. Someone then affectionately called me a Kan Chiong Spider...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The anxious parents, relatives and friends of the graduands crowding to the middle aisle as we all headed out during the closing ceremony. Something funny happened here. See we all had to sit on chairs draped nicely with white sheets that touched the floor, and were told to stash our personal belongings beneath the chairs to avoid tripping over them and as a means to hide them from view. When it was time for us to all leave the hall at this stage, I did not know we had to grab all our belongings from under the chair and proceed out. By the time my row had cleared, I was the only one left squatting down and furiously trying to yank my stuff out from under as my bag's handle got hooked under the leg of the chair. The usher who was ensuring the orderly manner of the procession was in a frenzy and told me to leave my stuff there and head out first. I only got back to my stuff 15 minutes later when the hall had cleared.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
While people were stuffing themselves at the post-graduation buffet, I got cuddly with the big mascot bear bear...

Through it all...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I dedicate much love to my ever-supportive parents who made this possible for me. Without them, much of my life's dreams would have come to naught. Thank you from the bottom of my heart...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
To my Angel for his relentless words of encouragement, patience and love, thank you for edging me all the way...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
To my noisy little brother who kept my spirits up during late-assignment hours, you are the reason for my hyper-ness at the most alien hours of the day...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Not forgetting my hot Buddy Maine, whom I spent a whole year in class with and my late-night online company during which we would keep each other awake through silly chats on MSN and sharing referencing information while rushing out our assignments. She went over to Australia to finish up her studies after that, during which I felt a little lost whenever Assignment deadlines drew close. As you already can tell, I am a rather last-minute sort of person. Please do not emulate that.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
And to my final year classmates, especially to sweet Joyce, (the lady beside me on the left) who graduated in the class of 2007 - Congratulations and best wishes for your future endeavours!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Thus another journey begins... =)

for everyone
Hi my Fishy Folks! I hope you all had a fruitful weekend? I had a rather lazy one, choosing to stay home and do some catching up with my beloved felines, feasting my eyes on old dramas on MobTV and spending the Sunday with my family and cousins.

The weather has been rather absurd of late. It passes showers for 15 minutes, Mr Sun decides to shine his warmth upon earth for the next 10 minutes, and then Mr Cloud decides to throw tantrums and it starts pouring again for the better half of the day. Maybe all that talk about our Mother Earth ageing and global warming is finally beginning to make people sit up and take heed.

I fell ill last week. Came down with a cough (which thankfully didn't rob me of my ability to speak) and a bout of flu, which left my little nose leaking for the week. Been also consceientiously cropping up some grainy pictures that I promised to share with you all too! Some random ones but nonetheless, a summary of what I have been up to over the months... So do bear with me ok? =)

Also... I sustain a weird looking bruise on my leg when I accidentally bumped into the edge of a table at the office....

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Haha.... The two balukus are exactly straight in line and 2cm apart. And after looking at them on a starry night one day... I had the sudden inspiration to:

.
...
....
.....
......
.......
........
.........
..........
...........
..............

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
GIVE THEM AN IDENTITY!!! Hur hur....

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I also spent the time clearing my wardrobe while Siamy decided to make my pile of old clothes her slumber nest...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
My Amah's cat, Furby, found heaven in an unattended container of dried food biscuits...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I bumped into that huge black dog outside Amah's house again... It probably is a pony in disguise... Hmm...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I introduce to you all - TUFFY, my favourite black food centre cat...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I brought Tuffy home for 2 days some years ago. I gave him a good bath, cuddled him to sleep and he decides to run away back to the food centre I picked him up from, some 4 kilometres away from my home, where he's been ever since. He looks like a black furry bear in this one.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I paid Ivanny's grandpa a visit one weekend at his home, and landed up making a new friend next door. I used to own a pomeranian just like him, and his daintiness and sparkling character brought back many fond memories for me.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
He sent my heart racing at the first sight...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I went over to a friend's place to visit some furry babies... =)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This, is Toufu's Daddy. And the Daddy of those furry balls above. Whose mother isn't Toufu's mother. Which makes them Toufu's step-brothers and sisters!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I have never in my life, seen or cuddled such pure-bred Persians. Yes there were very VERY irresitable.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Look how tiny this one was... The guy behind is my cousin Weiming, no idea why he looked hungry. More pictures here!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Ivanny spotted this gorgeous Swarovski Mermaid Crystal figurine and smsed me excitedly. A sitting mermaid in faceted clear crystal with unfaceted hair, holding a Light Creamrose pearl. It comes at a whopping SGD500+ price tag though. Hmmm...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I bumped in Mr Ang Peng Siong in my office the other day and grabbed a Post-It in my excitedness to get his autograph. We chatted for a moment and found out he is playing consultant to a project the company was undertaking. He had a really warm and pleasant personality and looked fantastic for his age.

And some unforgettable gatherings I'd over the months... =)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Veron, Peixian, Silly Me, Tricia and Sheila

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
With my pretty girls... Our first year Anniversary is approaching!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Ikan Bilis Cheng Guang, Lijuan and Me! They were the first fantastic people I got to know from my PSS competition. They were always there for my performances and my supper companions after late-night briefings at MediaCorp.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Weiling, Kejing, Yanshan, Me, Jiemin and Xueling at my surprise birthday gathering.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
They sang a birthday song for me in the middle of Bugis and even bought me an adorable cake. I was almost moved to tears.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
My sweetest Weiling and Kejing arranged my first fan gathering back in March... Which turned out to be one of the most significant things to happen to me in 2007... Hugs to all! =)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Ivanny and I were treated to the Phantom of the Opera musical by a very nice Aunty.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
I knew some of the songs by heart, but never dreamt I would be able to sit in for the sell-out musical.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Goofing around... Hee...

Guess that wraps up my little photo-blog. Till next time, tata my fishy friends... Have yourselves a fruitful weekend ya! =)

THIS is majorly unacceptable. Utterly sick. Shamelessly cowardly. Why in the world would any human, with a minimal level of conscience, decapitate an innocent black cat, behead it, sever its limbs and leave its mutilated body in front of some shop? What more is he capable of? Should there not be a more humane and civilized manner for him to address whatever grievances he had against whoever or whatever it was??? My goodness... . .. .

If this ding dong is lurking around our island, I hope the most ferocious sniffer dogs will hunt his stinky tracks down and take revenge on behalf of their feline friends.

For now my dear friends, please keep your beloved animals locked and sealed within the safe confinements of your homes. Till the wandering spirit of the poor black feline, the long arms of justice and spirited-minded members of society catch up with him, shall we be on our guards.

Sigh....

Right... =) True to my little promise to Ivanny, I will complete:

The 10 Weird Things About Averil (you probably knew or never knew about)... How exciting!!! -rubs hands earnestly-

Though about 70% of my weirdness have been thoroughly spelt out on the left column of this blog, let me try squeezing out more fishy details about myself to satisfy all your insatiable curious reader-buds!

Here goes!
.
..
...
....

1) I believe I am weird. If not I wouldn't be doing this tag hoh. Now how can I not share this with you all... First on the list - I love scaring myself. Before I go to bed everyday, I have this tendency to imagine weird shadows lurking in the dark, a big hairy hand sticking through my window to grab me (my Mum scared me once by saying that) and that some evil creature is lying prone below my bed awaiting for me to fall asleep. Also, whenever I seem to have misplaced something (which usually turns up after some careful searching), I'd scare myself by saying its lost and what dire consequences I'd have to face. Maybe major paranoia fuels me. Yippy! One down, nine more to go! -

2) I sing and hum everywhere I am. In the train, on a crowded bus, in the office, in the office lift, while walking, while running, to my cats, to my toes, to my hair, to the plants along the pavements... ... It is a very enriching experience and thus far, nobody has treated me like an outcaste.

3) I dislike bathing. No I do not HATE bathing per se, I do take my daily baths and thorough scrub downs, but if I ever had a choice, I'd say bathing has to be at the bottom of my daily-priorities-list. Its ironic I know, but bathing seems like a chore as compared to swimming. I am changing this, for its good for me. So please do not avoid me when you see me. I do not smell fishy.

4) I have to comb my hair at least 5 times in a day or I will feel uneasy. Its probably just me being neat and tidy, you know how first impressions count. I have a comb with me at all times and there were times when I forgot to bring one out, I'd 'panic' and find the nearest store to get one. That accounts for my every-growing collection of little pocket combs, 15 and no more counting I hope. Hur hur...

5) I speak like a little child whenever I meet cute adorable humans, creatures and things. Like in a squeaky gentle little baby voice somewhat sounding like little Po from the Teletubbies. People have said I am in a planet of my own when I get all soft and sticky to new borns or small tiny furry things, it just comes naturally. I go gaga over little furry paws and tiny fingers and toes… Hee… Having maternal instincts may just be an understatement. It's a healthy obsession.

6) I love to kiss animals all over. I love my Toufu, Noname and Siamy that I HAVE to kiss them everyday or I will feel uneasy. Especially love the crevices of their paws and wet little button noses. Kisses are the most universal expressions of feelings (whatever they may be), but I say I do it out of LOVE... I kiss strays too for I can’t resist them. I believe they are relatively clean. Let's all be thankful for the existence of disinfectants and sanitizers.

7) I have a morbid phobia for balloons. Especially big round blown up ones. Bring one near me and you'll see me running helter skelter away from it. I am afraid of them popping up on me and I have this vision that when they pop, I'd go deaf or get hurt or whatever. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

8) I used to be so afraid at the sight of Santa Clause or anyone in a mascot suit that I'd cry out loud and run far away from them. I have pictures to prove this (from eons ago!), I will post them up here when I dig them out of my yellowing albums. I vividly recall the times when I would furiously struggle out of my parent's arms and burst out crying in fear when they were all ready to pose in a shot with these nice people in suits that bring a smile to children. Apparently, I was probably allergic to synthetic fur and beards I reckon.

9) I only stopped drinking from a baby milk bottle at the tender age of 11. Hur hur… Don't laugh at me ah... I tell my Mama.. .. .

10) I wonn't have reached this tenth point if I didn't think I was weird... =) Oh alrighty, one last one. I ... erm... I.. . Eh.. . I believe that Eggs are the greatest gift to mankind! They are the most versatile gems of the consumables. I love Eggs! Anything Eggy shall be divine.

More updates to come! Been missing a whole commercial jet-load of people... There is always so many things and so little time. Hope to meet up with all you people soon ya! -winks and flickers tail around-

Have a good week ahead my beloved merfolks!

Over the past week, I met some new furry friends. I get this instant ecstacy-like delight whenever I chance upon a friendly adorable creature. The bonus - it allows me to to give it a big warm cosy cuddle... =)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
This doggy was taking a stroll near Grandma's place when I crossed its path. It was damn huge! When it stood on its fours, it reached my waist. Its tail was like a busy whip or something and its paws were like human feet. Eeks! Big friendly giant nonetheless...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
That I couldn't resist the temptation... So cute!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Then there was the MediaCorp Kitty Number 1 which I chanced upon lounging so lazily on the pavement on my way home. I heard from one the regular patrons to the place that this kitty has been loitering the roads for awhile now and such a darling it has been, that residents have been feeding and caring for it...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Confirm overweight loh... But I like! So clean and cuddly...

This one I MUST show all of you...

I was walking out to the MediaCorp reception area late one night when I thought I saw a big foreign object right in the middle of my path. The scary thing was there were 2 glowing light and the thing was like moving across the road in an undecisive manner.

Feeling abit cautious, I approached the thing only to find out it was a mummy cat carrying her little kitten to higher ground! When I finally got closed, I realized that the Mummy cat had dropped the kitten from its jaw and ran to hide at a corner.

Slowly I approached the corridor that was mildly lit to get a glimpse of the kitten... And see what was staring back at me!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
!!!! This little furball will be known as MediaCorp Kitty Number 2! So cute it was... When I carried it, it looked at me with those cute beady eyes and snuggled in the crevices of my arms. Don't worry, I was really gentle with it, I always am with baby furballs... =)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Affinity perhaps?... I felt it... Maybe it did too... =)

Thank you all for your words of encouragement, assurance and support through the difficult week for me... You people have been such shining gems in the darkest moments... I have picked myself up and moved on... Look forward to doing my best for you all on the 6th of Novemeber when I shall be performing during the Project Superstar first quarter finals... All other details will be made known in due time...

For all of your unwaivering support, I am truly touched from the bottom of my heart... Thank YOU to you too, my Angel, for helping me stand strong on my two feet again and to realize so many things I ought to start changing about myself for the good of self and others around me...

My exams are starting in the following week and I've commenced my revision. My throat hurts kinda bad from whatever reason but I'm feeling ok... Plenty of rest, water and burying my head and fins in my textbooks and notes would probably do me good eh..

Glad that the haze is FINALLY dying and that Mr Cloudy has finally decided to let his kids rain down on our little island... Take care you all... ~starfish and scallop shells~

-surfaces out of choppy sea and gives everyone a big salty wave-

Hope all my dearest readers have been fine during my short abscence. Sorry for not updating since last week, I have been crazily busy. Thank you to all who've been leaving me such encouraging and morale-boosting messages throughout this very tough week... I am still alive and well... Tired but still going strong... -flicks shimmery scaly tail-

Special thank yous to supporters who have been gathering at almost every session we have had lined up during this busy week to lend us their support. You all never fail to make our day. Thanks for the pictures, sweet letters and jokes to perk us up after each tiring day. Don't neglect yourselves as well!

I have been having photo shoots and filming sessions with the rest of the other hardworking 23 contestants throughout the week. Now that the professional stylists and image consultants have stepped in to save the day, I can take a breather now. Phew...

I think you all should soon be seeing the very cool promotional music video we painstakingly put together for viewers as well as profile shots of all of us in promotional print and online materials over the next few weeks. If I look ugly, please do not flame me here ok. Be nice.

The route to stardom is not all rosy...Trust me... Only if you're prepared for gruelling long hours, highly emotional settings, fussy people, backstabbers, rumour mongers and rigid rules, should you be able to rise up to super stardom. The one rule - Stay grounded! At the end of it all though, a nicely shot footage and a beautiful picture of you makes all that worthwhile. I guess nothing is free in this world. No pain, no gain.

On a lighter note, we had our first wardrobe fitting done. And look what I got! :

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
First Set - I've never worn such a short skirt in my life!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Second Set - Simple and so me!

Nice?... =)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
BOO!...

Back on track. We had a music video to shoot, a medley of eight songs, hence the uniformed white-look throughout. Just a peek at the rest of the 11 beautiful girls:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Stay tuned ok!!!

Set 2 was worn for a fast number with simple incorporated dance steps. Since my feet have a tendency to knot themselves into a tail, I had the jitters simply watching Project SuperBand SOUL's member, Ishi, our choreographer, teach us the moves. Luckily for me, the steps were easy to do and I had only some minor problems executing them. It was fun once all of us finally got the hang of things. I of course was one of the rigid rabbits who either missed a count or knotted a hand or foot. You get the picture.

Oh yes, I got a new hairdo during the photoshoot and filming segments:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I had temporary curls from fantastic stylists from the Monsoon Hair Salon. Following which I had 28 bobby pins painfully inserted into my hair to hold it up. Yes I lost quite a few strands of my precious locks from all that pulling and curling, but I guess it was worth it. I looked like an expensive Doll off the shelves of a toy department!!! All I lacked were bigger eyes, longer lashes and a hefty price tag on me. Heee...

Not forgetting...The people behind the scenes who have been there livening up our spirits and looking out for us:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
From left to right: Our minder, Cindy, a nice lady, Rosemary and Alan the intern.
(Short term memory to be updated soon)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Me with the loveable Rosemary and the very hardworking intern Alan.

I even got the chance to visit a recording studio under the guidance of the very patient producer at Ocean Butterflies Music Pte Ltd, Mr Acid Pang. Hearing my own voice on record was plain WEIRD. I don't sound like myself! Eeeks!... But the whole experience was just wonderful...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
With some of the contestants...

Then it was good friend's birthday last weekend:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Happy Birthday Madeliene [first one from the right]... =)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
With the cheeky guys...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
She got a little red packet from the group, which someone obviously had his eyes on...Tsk tsk...

I even visited the coffee connoisseur cafe for the first time for a yummy Hot Honey Latte:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
It was nice catching up with the girls after so long...

I will end this post off with some famous eye candies I met all over MediaCorp...Don't droll over your keyboard lah... =)

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The flawlessly beautiful Channel NewsAsia new anchor, Cherly Fox...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Our extremely patient and quirky dance instructor, Ishi...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The very sweet and obliging bi-lingual host, Belinda Lee...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The dudes from Project SuperBand Lucify, Shinya and Kuek...

It will be vocal traning sessions for the next week...Then it will be the exams for me. Lotsa stuff so little time!!! More updates I promise... Thank you all for everything thus far, you people have been really great! Weeeee....

The 5 Resident Judges:

While awaiting my 2 minutes of fame or infamousy...Hee...

Thank you so much to all who came down to support me... Special thank yous to those who came on their own accord and surprised the spirits out of me... I really was and still am so touched by the fantastic turnout. Though not as many as some other contestants, but it was more than amazing for me!

Special thank yous to TeddyStomach.com for the lovely posters (they designed and printed them for me within 24 hours!) and to the company's lovely Boss who came down to cheer me on with her lovely children... =)

Thank you so much to my Love who came down with his contingent of friends, kiddy plastic whistles and all, to lend me their support and encouragement. You all made my day. Really did... Thank YOU...

One more time!...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
The one who's always been there for me through it all...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Thank you so much to Lydia and Adeline, the beautiful non-twin sisters who surprised me with their appearance. I was so touched by your prescence...

The crazy thing they did...
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Pasting my poster on the 2nd level glass panel railing... Lame...

Thank you thank you thank you all so so much!!! =)

Judges Comments after my performance:

Roy Lee: You bored me with your rendition. Though you were singing so happily, you lack stage prescence. You must learn to engage your listeners.
Dawn Yip: Your happy singing made me happy too! Overall not bad, I liked the way you presented the song. Continue to work hard!
Lee Wei Song: Watch your pitching a little and changing of keys. There are alot of "tone changes" throughout the chorus, you must learn to grasp the technique. Overall was not bad, diction was ok. Must take note ok.
Anthony Png: I love the way you match your gold belt with your denim gold shoes! Overall very good for me.. Like what Wei Song said, watch your tone changes. This song suits you alot. I like it.
Billy Koh: I like you very much.

DURING THE RESULTS:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And so commences a 2-week hectic schedule ahead for me... Then it will be the exams and my graduation...

Will definitely keep you all updated when the official quarter finals commences ok? =)

Oh yes, and someone really sweet set up a tiny little FanClub for me at: http://www.friendster.com/shiyunfc Do add me up there as well if you please... Will definitely update as regularly as I can.. =)

9 September 2006

My Love and I decided to head down to Toa Payoh HDB Hub over the weekend to be voyeurs of the Project Superstar 2 female auditions for the first time. The highly popular singing talent search competition organised by MediaCorp and featured on Channel U in Singapore saw a record of more than 4,000 participants last season in 2005. This year, just the female hopefuls alone amounted to about 5,000 from what I last heard. Eeks!...

The stage set for the big event at 8am:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

A chance at a lucrative recording contract, stardom and endless opportunities...

The crowd that had gathered under the sweltering morning sun:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Some camped overnight, other came really early, some cut queue, some stood in for others...Nobody was about to back out loh. Melting makeup, messy hair, running mascara, sweaty armpits, smudged lipstick, wet bodies of all shapes and sizes and a mixture of scents and sounds filled the morning air. Hmm... What a wonderful day...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

So we hung around, munching on our yummy MacDonalds' MacMuffin burgers and sipped on cold Milo while we followed the queue of people that stayed stagnant for the next 3 hours. I saw saw hungry girls eyeing my half eaten burger while I dodged more 'stare' arrows as I sipped heartily on my Milo my Love so nicely bought for me.

By 9.30am, the barricades were finally lifted and batches by batches, the girls filed their way in neat rows towards the waiting area.

A huge crowd had gathered in the atrium. From the very young to the very old, non-participants also wanted a share of the madness that was going on. Celebrities and ex-Project Superstar finalists and winners were schdeuled to perform to entertain the crowd. Adolescents held placards and banners below the stage as theiy eagerly awaited their idols' appearances admist the crazy screams and excited shrieks and squeals. At random, the Superstar hopefuls were yanked on stage to belt out what they had to offer to the judges. Nerve wrecking for them but very very entertaining...

They came from all walks of life and backgrounds, most with huge dreams of turning into pro-songstresses while others, simply for the experience.

I was too star strucked myself to snap pictures after that. Sorry.

Then we trailed our way to the audition area with the girls. We were nervous yet excited for all of them.

One by one, they sat and waited patiently for their turn. Many girls were frantically whipping out lyrics and singing aloud with ear plugs on, some fell asleep, some sat there confidently and silently, others were on the phone while a few others started freaking out as the butterflies started to gather in their stomachs. *Gulp*

The Hot Seats:

One by one, they went in and came out. Some were crying and sobbing, others estactic for joy. Some had a look of contentment while others had a look of I don't know, mixed emotions. They came and they left. What an experience.

We spotted celebrity host Quan Yifeng and trailed her all the way with her filiming crew in tow as they filed their way amidst the crowd to the SK Jewellery shop (the main sponsor of the event this year) for a short shoot.

Wah...she super skinny can? Body figure very nice... Skin even nicer... Celebrity mah.. Everything also perfect perfect...
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We left at 4pm that day as another huge throng of hopefuls remained queuing under the late afternoon sun... Overwhelming response was an understatement to describe the whole event. Definitely an exhilarating experience highly recommended for the young and restless.

Firstly, sorry for the lack of updates... I've been terribly busy with stuff... Merschool is draining away half of my gills' capacity... But I'm swimmingly fine.

Secondly, THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH to all those who have voted for me. Its heartening to note that I'm now finally comfortably in the running for the title despite not having a dedicated marketing and promotions agent with a fat pay package reining in support for me. I am really touched by the turnout. I really am. Highly unexpected I must say.

Special thank yous to my very sweet Love and his army buddies, wonderful family and relatives, supportive friends, nice strangers, my dedicated readers, IT Savvy Ah Pek and Ah Mas and all other men, women and animals...

Please continue voting for me ok!!! You can vote once per day per belle everyday! Xie Xie Ni... =)

Some pictures from my school's Dinner and Dance (1st September 2006) which I was invited to for FREE (the tickets cost $100). 8 course sumptuous oriental dinner shared among only 5 people at the table (most tables had 10, 5 didn't turn up)... Shiok ah, eat until full! The dinner was to commemorate TMC Academy's 25th year anniversary as well as Teachers' Day. The school unveiled its interesting new logo, held some boring speeches, gave out some long-service awards, gave out big fat bonuses, more boring speeches, held the finals of the TMC Idol and even presented a humungous $25,000 cheque or something to the Straits Times School Pocket Money Fund in a bid to contribute to charity. Talk about garnering publicity. How tactical.

The Stage Was Set - Orchard Hotel Singapore

Me eagerly waiting for dinner to start so I could go home early... And yes, I still can fit into my beloved doped dyed chiffon dress ok!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Me with some of the school's amazingly pretty staff. I felt like the roots beneath the roses.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I had the golden opportunity to get a shot with the boss himself- CEO Dr Chin.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

And guess who came to entertain us? My favourite Ms ABIGAIL CHAY! ~claps feet in delight~ She flirted, she teased, she sang and danced, she fed some men and molested a few, she dished out the lamest jokes and in a jiffy, left the ballroom before I could even get enough of her.

Dammit.

So I quickly got up from my table and fleeted out the door and caught up with her to tell her how big a fan I was of her.

And my oh my...was Abigail obliging...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

She was so skinny that I was careful not to crush her when I gave her a warm hug to tell her how much I admired her and how thankful I was about the fact that she decided to come clean about her life and that I was glad she had taken this path of entertainment. She was MY STAR!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Unassuming and a very very filial daughter. She apparently had to rush off to get porridge for her Dad who was ill that evening when I ambushed her outside the ballroom.

So one last shot before Abigail disappeared down the escalators without a trace...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The dinner was so darn boring after that, I decided to leave at 11pm sharp right after the last dish was served.

THE END.

Hongkong Disneyland- Part 2

Our final 'ride of the day' came in a form of a simulated wooden bunk boat experience along the rivers of Tarzan's mighty jungle. You know, animal tendencies man in tattered loins and long maggie mee hair. His turf was the nicest in the theme park. Floral and fake fauna abound, a long murky river lined with realistic muddy banks, nice water landscaping, faux waterfalls, a huge tall tree house which we never got to climb up and stimulated animal sounds in every corner we turned.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Nice backdrop...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Tribal Dudes drummed their way through the streets. I swear I wasn't trying to hit on this one. I wasn't even sure when this picture was taken.

Anyhow, we lined up for a short while before clambering aboard the sturdy boat which thankfully didn't threaten to sink admist the 20 odd of us on board.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

We are not hydrophobic.

Along the way, we were greeted by interesting sights and sounds!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

A hairy Baby plastic elephant...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

A big fat lazy plastic hippopotamus...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

An abandoned boat with plastic human skulls...Cool stuff!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

A very alive Volcano which shot out real balls of fire... You could feel the heat in your face...

WHICH,

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Left a poor little chinese girl shocked and frightened to tears... Haha... Opps. Not funny.

We alighted the boat and proceeded to catch the Disney Parade on the streets. I found myself the best unobstructed spot and waited earnestly for the performers to arrive under the scorching mid day sun. Very clever girl.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The leader of the pack!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Gerald had his eyes fixed on the lower half of the female performers' booty...Hmm...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The neatly dressed band...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Mickey said Gerald was a good boy despite the way he was staring at his performers...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Scene out of Mickey's studios with a toothy Chipmunk...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Reel life Mickey...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The beautiful Disney Princess' castle...Do they live together under the same roof??

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Scene out of Alice in Wonderland...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Scene out of Toy Story...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

No Snow White and no 7 Dwarfs...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The long awaited moment!

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Magnificent workmanship eh.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Last glance at Mr Octopus before they passed...

Our final stop for the day was a visit to the Disneyland Storybook Theatre...The air conditioned posh theatre was definitely a welcoming relief for the by then sun burnt me coupled with aching feet...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Where the magic began...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The opening dance and song segment...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Characters from Toy Story strutting their stuff...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Beautiful tale of Beauty meets Beast...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The reason why Disneyland is only for the young and young at heart...Zzzzz....

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

She needs no introduction by now I reckon...I couldn't get a good picture of her cause she was flipping her fins too much!...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The finale!...

A final shot before I bade farewell to the place...

Still have a hundred more pictures to go...I shall keep that entry for another rainy day... =)

Am I THAT scary?

I came down the stairs and saw Mum by the bedroom door and gave her shoulder a light tap.

She turned around, gasped aloud in horror and clutched her chest.

She stood stock stiff for a while to catch her breathe and started scolding me for giving a nasty fright.

She said she thought she saw a long haired THING in white fleeting down the stairs.

Yes I was in a white shirt. Yes I had my hair let down. But no I didn't fleet down the stairs.

I have legs. No fins. So technically I have to drag myself down stairs.

She cotinued ranting at me for scaring her and said my hair was to blame.

So I told her I had another face at the back of my head which she never saw.

-_-

Wah lau... Am I that scary? I am freaking not a Sadako ok.

Sadako came out of a TV, I came out of a clam shell ok.

Off to class. Wu liao.
